    is in talks to star in
    ’s supernatural family movie “
    ” with Guillermo del Toro directing and producing.

    “The Haunted Mansion” has been in works at Disney for the past five years and is based on the popular attraction at the Disneyland theme park. Del Toro unveiled the project at Comic-Con in July 2010 — a mere seven years after the release of the Eddie Murphy comedy of the same name, which grossed $180 million worldwide.

    D.V. DeVincentis is working on the script for the film, which del Toro said in 2010 would not be a comedy. “If you take the children, they will scream,” he said at the time.

    Gosling is a former Mouseketeer. He wrote, produced and directed “Lost River,” which is receiving a limited release from Warner Bros. this weekend, and has been filming Shane Black‘s “The Nice Guys” with Russell Crowe and Adam McKay’s “The Big Short” with Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Steve Carell.

    Gosling is represented by Anonymous Content, LBI Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
